Guwahati: The second match of the Test series between India and South Africa is to be held from November 22 at Barsapara Stadium, but before that, the worries of Team India have increased. Shubman Gill will not be able to play in this match due to neck problem. The BCCI said on Friday that the medical staff, after re-examining Gill's condition, decided that he needed rest. For this reason he has been removed from the team. Now Gill will go to Mumbai and get further investigation done by the doctors. Now Rishabh Pant will take charge of the team in his place.

How did the injury worsen?

Gill was able to play only a few balls on the first day of the first Test. While playing a shot, his neck suddenly got stiff. On-field physios treated him, but at the end of the day he needed to be taken to hospital. There was slight relief the next day, but the pain increased again as soon as we reached Guwahati.

The team doctors clearly said that it would not be right to land in this condition. Gill also admitted that he wanted to play, but batting at full strength was not possible. Pant said that the health of the player comes first. Now all eyes are on whether Gill will be fit for the ODI series starting on November 30.

What might the team look like now?

After Gill's departure, changes in the playing eleven are certain. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who missed the first Test, has rejoined the team. Pant indicated that the final team is almost decided.
Probable Indian team:ย Jaiswal, Rahul, Sai Sudarshan, Jurel, Pant (captain/keeper), Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Bumrah, Siraj, Mukesh Kumar.

There is a strong possibility of Jurel being sent to number four. The layer of grass on the pitch can help the fast bowlers.

How did the first test slip away?

In the Kolkata Test, South Africa scored 159 runs in the first innings. India took the lead by scoring 189, but in the second innings, South Africa scored 153 runs and gave India a target of 124. This target was not considered difficult, but the Indian batting disintegrated, and the entire team was out for 93.

Hammer's four-wicket bowling turned the match immediately. Pant admitted after the match that there was haste in the run chase and the decisions were also not correct. The team management says that the same mistakes will not be repeated in Guwahati. After the defeat, India slipped to fourth place in the WTC points table, while South Africa is in second place. Now it remains to be seen whether Team India is able to make a comeback in this match despite the injury setback or not.
